### Civic Education Lesson Plan: My Responsibilities in School (Nursery 2)
#### Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Understand basic responsibilities they have at school.
2. Demonstrate appropriate behaviors that reflect their responsibilities.
3. Identify different ways they can help their classmates and teachers.
#### Materials Needed:
- Illustrative storybook about school responsibilities
- Picture cards showing various responsibilities (e.g., picking up toys, listening to the teacher)
- Chart paper and markers
- Stickers or stamps for rewards
- Crayons and drawing paper
#### Duration:
40 minutes
#### Lesson Outline:
**1. Introduction (5 minutes)**
- Greet the students and have them sit in a circle.
- Briefly explain what “responsibilities” mean using simple language. e.g., “Responsibilities are things we need to do to help everyone feel happy and safe at school.”
**2. Story Time (10 minutes)**
- Read a short illustrative story about a child who helps out at school (e.g., "Emma Helps at School").
- Pause occasionally to ask questions like, “What is Emma doing here?” to engage the children and ensure they understand.
**3. Discussion (5 minutes)**
- Show picture cards representing different responsibilities.
- Discuss each picture, asking questions like, “What is this child doing?”, “Is this a good thing to do at school?”.
- Examples of responsibilities: picking up toys, listening to the teacher, helping friends, sharing, washing hands, etc.
**4. Activity (10 minutes)**
- Hand out drawing paper and crayons.
- Ask the students to draw one thing they do to help at school.
- After they finish, have a few students share their drawings and explain their responsibility to the class.
**5. Role-Playing (5 minutes)**
- Choose a few responsibilities and have students act them out. For example:
- Have a couple of students pretend to clean up blocks together.
- Have one student act as a teacher and others as listeners.
- Give positive feedback and encouragement as they role-play.
**6. Recap and Reward (5 minutes)**
- Summarize the key points of the lesson:
- “Today we talked about how we can help each other at school.”
- “We saw that helping our friends and teachers makes our school a better place.”
- Hand out stickers or stamps to each student as a reward for participating.
**7. Closing (5 minutes)**
- Sing a closing song related to helping and sharing.
- Thank the students for their participation and encourage them to practice their responsibilities every day.
#### Extension Activities:
- Create a responsibility chart for the classroom where students can earn stars or stickers for demonstrating their responsibilities.
- Organize a “helper of the day” program where one student is highlighted each day for their effort in showing responsibility.
#### Notes for Teachers:
- Keep the activities lively and engaging to maintain the nursery-aged students' attention.
- Use lots of praise and positive reinforcement.
- Tailor the complexity of the discussion and activities based on the students’ understanding and maturity levels.
